CBD Oil – Frequently Asked Questions
CBD, also known as Cannabidiol is one of 113 active cannabinoids recognized inside the Cannabis Sativa, an herbaceous flowering plant that originally is indigenous to Eastern Asia however has been grown throughout the world for centuries. CBD is a natural alternative to alleviate or minimize many health problems such as joint problems, arthritis, digestion issues, IBS, pain, inflammation, appetite, allergies, and more.
CBD on its own does not have an intoxicating effect on humans or animals. When THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is left inside of the CBD, it causes the feeling of being ‘high’.
CBD is legal to purchase in the UK if it contains less than 0.2% THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), this is the main psychoactive cannabinoid that is found in the cannabis plant, and it causes the ‘high’ sensation. Pure CBD is not psychoactive and has no negative effects on your state of mind.
All our CBD products are THCC free.
Our Third-Party Testing Certificates of Analysis on each product page, show our commitment to transparency and we provide a certificate for every product we sell. We are also certified by the Banned Substance Control Group (BSCG) that our products are 100% THC-Free.
Mild | 5% – our lowest strength, perfect for the complete beginner looking to start using CBD for general wellness
Medium | 10% – ideal for those new to CBD looking to support sporting performance, minor pain & general wellness.
Strong | 20% – the best option for those who train regularly or need a little extra support with recovery, pain management and/or sleep.
Extra Strong | 40% – maximum strength for maximum recovery support – perfect for those suffering from long-term pain or injury.
You will notice that we offer various sizes for our medium and strong CBD oils.
The lower the strength, but larger the bottle means that the CBD concentrate is more diluted per drop. For example, our 30ml Medium 3000 MG CBD Oil Tincture offer 4MG per drop, vs our 15ml Strong 3000MG CBD Oil Tincture which offers 8MG per drop
We recommend sublingual administration for CBD oil. This involves placing a few small drops under your tongue, giving the CBD time to diffuse (holding for around 60 seconds) into the bloodstream through the tissues in your mouth. About 40% will be absorbed by the body, the rest will be carried away in your saliva into the gut.
This is far more effective than simple swallowing because it significantly reduces the length of the journey into your bloodstream.
When you are introducing a new food supplement into your body, we always believe that it’s best to start low and go slow, gradually increasing the dosage. This will give you time to gain a sense of how your body is reacting to the CBD oil, you can then, if you wish, increase the strength or dosage until you feel the desired results.
Our suggestion is to pick the strength based on what suits your needs and goals best, then start with 2-4 drops per dose. Hold under the tongue for 60 secs to absorb.
As a general guide you can expect the following dose of CBD per drop:
Mild = 2MG per drop
Medium = 4MG per drop
Strong = 8MG per drop
Extra Strong = 16MG per drop
MCT stands for Medium Chain Triglycerides and is usually extracted from coconut oil, using a process method called “fractioning” which removes the larger fat molecules leaving only the smaller ones – MCT’s. These smaller molecules are more easily absorbed by your body.
As MCT is higher in saturated fat than hemp seed oil, it can carry more CBD molecules and therefore deliver more CBD to our body’s cells for absorption.
For this reason, experts would say CBD oil made with MCT oil would be considered the more superior product because the body can absorb it better, giving you the most from your CBD product.
MCT oil has several metabolic benefits, so is also often used to promote weight loss, supporting reduction of body fat, increasing fullness, and potentially improving the gut environment.
MCT has little to no flavour and is good for the environment due to not needing to use harsh chemical solvents for extraction.
Diabetes: Because MCT’s can cause a build-up of chemicals called ketones, we would therefore advise anyone who has diabetes to avoid using MCT based oils.
Liver problems: Because MCT’s are processed in the liver, we would also advise people who have liver problems to avoid using MCT based products.
Hemp Seed Oil
Even though it’s from the same plant, Hemp Seed Oil is not to be confused with CBD, there are no terpenes or cannabinoids contained in this carrier oil.
Nutritionally, hemp seed oil is superior, with a high concentration of soluble and insoluble fibre, it is lower in saturated fats than MCT, and high in plant protein, omega 6 and omega 3’s (good fats) which contain lots of disease fighting, anti-inflammatory properties, and amino acids too. Hemp seed oil also contains calcium, iron, magnesium, B vitamins, and other important minerals and hemp nutrients.
Hemp seed oil has a nutty flavour and is also good for the environment due to not needing to use harsh chemical solvents for extraction.
Hemp seed oil is a good alternative carrier for those who have diabetes or suffer from liver problems and should avoid taking MCT oils.
Isolate CBD contains only the CBD compound and no other aspects of the plant at all. This means you cannot get the desired entourage effect from an isolate.
Our Broad-spectrum CBD contains many of the valuable compounds from the plant, but without THC, THCV or CBN – the psychoactive parts of the plant. This allows users to benefit from the entourage effect whilst feeling assured that our products are 100% drug free.
Full spectrum CBD carries all compounds within the plant including THC and is not drug free.
If you are currently taking a course of medication, you should consult with a medical professional, such as your GP or pharmacist, to see whether you should be taking CBD oil at this time.
Our extraction process is based on one of the safest, cleanest, and purest methods using CO2, with patented technology. This extraction process uses CO2 as a solvent to extract the oil from the plant resulting in a CBD-rich extraction of cannabis oil.
